India Update...

Finally got round to updating with the image from Handmade in Britian in New Delhi, India. I had some really good feedback from the show and sold too which is always a bonus! My work is on display in India, untill the end of July.

Also these are a few basic shots of some more recent work some of which was exhibited during Fireworks Clay Studios open weekend and Exhibition. Fireworks opened its doors to the public for a weekend, and all the artists cleaned up our studio spaces and put our latest work on display. We had a great reception and lots of visitors plus 20% of all sales went towards the maintenance and development of the studio.

India Shipment Ready!

Finally got all the work I needed finished and packed up ready to be sent to India tomorrow!
I've been spending stupid hours in the studio recently in order to meet this deadline but it was worth it as I'm really happy with the results! Here are two of the six pieces I'm sending.

The work will be shown at a contemporary interiors show in New Delhi, India. The show runs from the 1st - 4th of April and is aimed at interior designers as well as the public, so it will hopefully raise some interest for me and my work!

More new work!

More new work out of the kiln this week! 1280'C this time so it included my little porcelain pieces - some of which warped and changed quite interestingly in the kiln.
Blue and white piece came out nice though, better pictures to follow .....

Firing Results!

New pieces came out of the kiln yesterday!
Very pleased with the results, especially the white and black.
Although I'm happy with elements of the terracotta pieces, think I need to play around a bit with the slip application to get the best results. . .

First Firing of 2011!

My first firing in too many months went on today! There's a mixture of pieces in there, including my new work in terracotta body with black slip, so I'm excited to see the results!
Also been working on the small porcelain pieces today and experimenting in the spray booth, they won't be going in the kiln until later in the week, so have to wait and see how successful they are.

New work in progress for 2010/11! I'm experimenting with a broader range of slips and stronger contrasting colours in my work. Aiming to further excentuate the sharp profile and natural shadows of my work.
I am also developing smaller pure porcelain pieces, however although the work itself is going well, trying to juggle work and the studio is proving tricky.....

Final deadline for our degree show set up was yesterday, and even after a disastrous firing, I've managed to push out some really nice pieces and I'm really happy with my show.

I've just got a hardcore weekend of of 2d work before our assessment deadline!!

I recently entered The Young Ceramicists Tile Competition Hosted by Usak University in Turkey.

I was excited to find out I was awarded a Turkish Gold Coin and am going to be flown out to Turkey to attend the Spring Festival and the Exhibition Opening and Award Ceremony.

the flights were booked today and I leave on the 30th of May for a 5 night stay before returning to Cardiff just in time for my degree show opening! A nice break to de-stress and catch a tan I hope!
